COVID-19: RSPCA Prevention and Education team update
Free Online Resources
We may not be out there in schools and colleges or at our centres but we are still working hard to provide you with everything you need for exciting and informative animal related advice, news, updates and learning activities.
We have lots of free resources to help keep children busy whilst self-isolating or staying at home. Whether you're caring for children at school or at home our activities and interactive resources are a fun way to learn about animal welfare.
We have taken the decision to put on hold all our activities working with children and young adults, until after Easter when we will review Government advice.
The Great Debate
Sadly two Great Debate heats had to be cancelled due to the spread of the coronavirus - in Leicester and Birmingham. The safety of the participants was paramount in reaching this decision. This followed eight successful heats in other parts of England and Wales, prior to the outbreak. However, school children from cancelled heats will still have the opportunity to participate in the events digitally - ensuring their research and debating skills are shown to RSPCA judges; and winners from each heat will still be chosen to progress to the finals in Westminster and Cardiff. As the coronavirus issue develops, decisions will be made about whether the dates of the finals - scheduled for June - need to change, in the interests of public safety.
The deadline for entering the Compassionate Class competition has been extended to 19th May. We encourage children now staying at home to enter! It's a fun and interactive series of resources and allows children to learn about animal welfare and to get creative! Find out more about Compassionate Class and download the resource packs.
