Fieldwork with animals

Tempting as it can be to bring wildlife into the classroom, we think there are more animal-friendly ways to get pupils excited about the wildlife around them.

We have worked in collaboration with our renowned science teams to come up with alternative methods of investigating animals as part of class fieldwork.

We have provided an explanation of many of the investigation techniques used in schools, along with some information about the welfare concerns we might have, and how we think the investigation could be made more animal-friendly.

If you are thinking of using a practical investigation as part of your fieldwork but are concerned about the animal welfare issues involved, simply open the Pdf document below and use the Ctrl+F search function to find the method of investigation you are thinking of using.
