Go on a dog sniffari

Going for a walk is more than physical exercise—it's a chance for your dog to explore the world through their nose and engage their mind.

Before you get started

Why this is important

Animals use all their senses to understand the world around them, and for dogs, sniffing is key.

Let’s explore why your dog loves to investigate new scents:

  • Social Insight: Who’s been here? Scents tell them who’s in the neighbourhood!
  • Navigation Skills: A ‘scent map’ helps them find their way around and remember familiar paths.
  • Curiosity & Discovery: New smells are thrilling—every sniff is a new adventure!
  • Every whiff has a purpose, helping your dog connect, navigate, and enjoy the world around them!

Walk & Sniff: The Perfect Balance for a Happy Dog

Think of the walk as a workout for the body and sniffing as exercise for the mind. Both are essential!

Let your dog linger and explore—there’s no rush to pull them away from a good sniff (unless it's something unsafe).

Every sniff tells a story

Watch closely as your dog sniffs—each type of sniff reveals something different about their world!

Here’s what to look out for:

  • Big, Excited Sniffs: Exploring a wide area, taking in all the scents.
  • Quick, Focused Sniffs: Gathering detailed information from one spot.
  • Long, Deep Sniffs: Jackpot! They’ve found something truly fascinating.
