Play time with cats

A great cat game lets your feline express their natural instincts—pouncing, chasing, and catching unpredictable toys. Enjoy the fun while keeping both of you safe!

Before you get started

Why this is important

Cats love to hunt, so giving them the chance to pounce, grab, and catch with their claws and teeth makes playtime all the more satisfying.

Building or buying a wand toy helps them tap into those natural hunting instincts!

No cat at home? Consider donating a wand toy to a friend, neighbour, or local rescue centre to spread the joy!

Wands keep you safe

Wand toys are simple sticks with enticing items attached for cats to chase and capture, giving them a safe outlet for their hunting instincts. Using a wand keeps sharp claws and teeth away from your hands, so you can enjoy playtime safely!

You can buy one or try making your own—check out this video to get started!

Play time!

With a wand toy, you can create exciting, unpredictable movements—change speeds, directions, and even hide the toy to keep your cat’s instincts sharp!

Watch for those big, dilated eyes as they focus, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce.

Ending the game

Be sure to let them catch the toy occasionally to make the game truly satisfying, and end playtime with a successful "hunt"—a captured toy and maybe even a tasty treat!
