Before you get started
Activity toolkit
Items you need:
- Flower seeds (see our activity sheet for advice).
- Seed tray or plant pot with compost (if not growing directly in garden soil).
- A plant pot and compost (optional).

Instructions
Sowing flowers for wildlife
Choosing your flowers
Use the worksheet together to look at the different flowers.
Match the insects to the flowers that will benefit them.
Let your child pick which selection of flowers they want to grow.

Sowing your seeds
Time to have some fun with soil/compost!
Follow the sowing instructions for the seeds and use a small watering can to give them a drink.

Go on a wildlife safari
When the flowers finally bloom, go on a safari.
Talk about the animals you see and how they are benefiting from your plants (e.g. food and shelter).
