The Big Help Out
The Big Help Out is back this year between 5-8 June!

What is the Big Help Out?
The Big Help Out is an annual volunteering event where we will join hundreds of national charities and community groups to inspire the public to get involved with our causes.
Originally planned over the King’s Coronation Weekend in 2023 the Big Help Out now sits at the end of Volunteers’ Week to help celebrate the contribution volunteers make to the charity sector.

How you can get involved
We’d love for you to get involved by:
Signing up as a Wildlife Friend
Signing up as a Wildlife Friend, our remote digital role that you can do from home over the BHO weekend. The role was specifically created for wildlife and animal lovers to get involved over the Coronation weekend in 2023 and we are thrilled to have carried it through into our 200th Birthday year and beyond!

RSPCA Leybourne is also hosting a planting session to enhance areas of their kennels, making them more enriching and improving wildlife habitats.
The start time is 1000hrs on Saturday, 6 June, and will last between 2 - 3 hours. We kindly ask that anyone taking part in the planting brings suitable gardening gloves, and if possible, a spade.
If you'd like to come along, please sign up here.
Volunteering for us
Volunteer for us using our ‘One day volunteering’ booklet. The booklet is filled with activities that you can do by yourself or with a group, either on the day, or on another day in your own time. The actions you take help support animals and our advocacy work.
Download the booklet for ideas on what you can do, including activities such as litter picks, helping our pet food banks and fundraising for us, which could all be done on the day of Big Help Out.
Joining our fostering events
Join our fostering events at one of our 6 animal centres to find out about becoming an animal fosterer with us. Our fosterers are so valuable and unique to us as our animals are often ‘case’ animals.
Our ‘Case’ animals may have experienced neglect, abuse or abandonment and are waiting for their owner’s case to go to court. To put an animal in a home environment during this time, which can sometimes be months or possibly years, benefits the animals so much more than being in a kennel environment for a prolonged period.
The following animal centres will be holding fostering events on Saturday, 6 June:
- Ashley Heath (BH24 2ET) - 1100 - 1300hrs
- Newbrook Farm (B32 4AX) - 1100 - 1300hrs
- Southridge (EN6 3LZ) - 1100 - 1300hrs
- West Hatch (TA3 5RT) - 1100 - 1300hrs
- Leybourne (ME19 5HW) - 1300 - 1500hrs
Our centres look forward to welcoming you on the day.
