Why this is important

An occasional treat is great for pets - and baking your own means you know exactly what’s in them.

It’s a healthy, thoughtful way to show kindness. No pet at home? Share the love by gifting your treats to friends or family with pets!

Baking cat treats

Instructions

1. Preheat oven and mix

Preheat your oven to 180°C. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until a dough forms.

2. Roll and cut

Dust your surface with flour and roll the dough out to 0.6cm (1/4 inch) thick. Cut out shapes using a cutter and place them on an ungreased baking tray.

3. Bake and let cool

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let the biscuits cool completely.

4. Hide the treats

Cats are natural hunters, so let them use their senses to find the treats. Try hiding small biscuit pieces:

  • Inside clean yoghurt pots
  • Under cardboard boxes
  • In cardboard tubes

Break the biscuits into small pieces and hide one per day to help your cat stay a healthy weight.
